A Few of My Favorite Things

Last weekend, the fiance and I ran a few errands (met with a wedding vendor, had a nice brunch along the coast and then stopped off at my home away from home..Nordstrom). The fiance waited in the car for the last errand. He gets fussy if I bring him into the mall with me (as most men do). On the rare occasion he actually enters the store, he can typically be found with the rest of the grumpy men, sitting on a plush chair by the escalator, scrolling through his phone with his leg crossed...peeking his head around the corner every few minutes, in the hopes he will see me emerge from the various beauty counters and other women shoppers. We have both learned, it is better for the both of us if he stays at home when I go on my shopping expeditions. However, if he is along for the ride, the next best thing is for him to wait in the car. That's ok..I knew exactly what I was going to get.. like any girl on a stealth mission, I headed directly for the perfume and makeup counters and snatched up my little treasures. I come back to the car, twenty minutes later to find him laying back in his seat, eyes closed, listening to talk radio. He rolls his eyes as I get back in the car and asks "Did you get what you Neeeddeeeddddddd?" Yes dear, I did..away we go home. :)

Perfume: Coco Mademoiselle: I wrote a previous post of how I adore this perfume. This time, I got the travel bottle because it actually comes with more oz. of perfume for only a couple dollars more than the actual bottle. Mascara: Lancome Hypnose Star: Can't say enough good things about this mascara. It lengthens and volumizes like a pro! Lashes: MAC: I always pick up this particular pair of lashes whenever I am having a glam night out. They are double layered and give a Hollywood effect. This particular pair was for Halloween. Eyeliner: MAC Fluid Line in Black Track: A holy grail item..I never go without. I have tried pretty much every black liner on the market and this is the only one I have found that doesn't smudge and end up somewhere unintended on the face. Bobbi Brown's is comparable too. My everyday eye, no matter what eyeshadow used, consists of a slight winged cat eye. This and a great slanted brush does the trick.
I love love love this travel bottle. It comes with three refillable bottles (right photo) and the packaging is so sleek! It twists open and pops up the area that you spray out of. Approved for airline travel. I just love it!
View from brunch in Encinitas/Cardiff area (San Diego coastal town). This is where the fiance and I hope to move to after we are done with our downtown lifestyle. For now, it makes more sense for us to stay in downtown (i.e. no commute to work). After we are married and looking to settle down a little more, Encinitas/Cardiff is our destination for a house. It is a laid back surf community with a bunch of little eateries and surf shops.

I hope you all enjoyed this weekend! Back to the 40 hour grind. Friday...and fall weather..cannot come quick enough! 90 degrees in San Diego today! Bring on the coat weather please!

  1. I really want to try the Lancome mascara! I saw it over the weekend and almost bought it, but I'm going to wait for the VIB sale so I can get a slight discount ;)

    1. Yes ..I'm pretty sure you would be happy with it! I love the wand. It has the same effect as the They're Real Benefit mascara, but for some reason on me, it flakes really bad and almost hurts when I put it on..like feels really coarse on me and this one doesn't do that. Goes on smooth. But maybe that is just my eyes that it does that to! But overall same effect.

    2. Cool, well you've convinced me! The Benefit doesn't do that to me, so I'm not sure why that happens to some people (I've read similar reviews on other blogs). It works so well for my stumpy lashes! But I'm always up for trying new things, and this looks so pretty :)

    3. Oh I haven't seen anything but good reviews on the benefit one! I thought maybe my lashes were freaks for reacting that way to it! Lol

  2. When I go shopping with my parents, my dad will either stay in the car or go sit at the shoe department...Men!
I have MAC fluidline, I don't love it...Have you tried Maybelline Studio gel liner? I think way more better then MAC's. What MAC lash is that? Its pretty. I have been meaning to try Lancome Hypose (& Dior Show) mascaras for some time now, need to bite bullet.

    1. I tried the Maybellene in the brown and I wasn't crazy about the payoff but maybe it was just that color! I don't know the MAC el number .. I always forget it and say "give me the most glam double layer lash u have" and they always pull out that one.. I looked on the container too and couldn't find the number .. Next time I'll be sure to ask! Yes love the mascara.. I dont have it very often bc of the price but when I do .. I remember why I love it so much! Usually I just use Loreal mascara :)

    1. I know! I am seriously considering getting them for my wedding but im pretty drag queen when it comes to makeup and I'd probably layer fake ones on top of the semi perm extensions so then I figure there is no point for me to spend the money on them.. But I would love to have them all the time if they were more affordable!

  4. haha, don't I know it! :) You completely and perfectly described how boys shop with their girlfriends/wives, etc. haha- they are always sitting, looking at their phones! ALWAYS. We usually bicker about it eventually whenever we shop together. I like helping him shop so I don't get why he hates shopping with me! haha.

LOVE all of your goodies and love even more the idea of living by the coast. Encinitas is amazing.

    1. Ah yes! I def have ended a few shopping trips bickering and always saying "this is the last time we go together!" men just don't get it.. I suppose if he dragged me to some computer parts store or home depot all the time I may have the same feelings! Hehe
